My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard

Good morning booboos! I hope everyone had a rockin’ Indulgence Friday Smile

(ew, sorry for the baby talk, I am writing this at approx. 11:45 PM because I am all chocolateified-up from the recipe I am going to reveal to you, but of course I will schedule this to post in the morning so you all don’t think I’m a crazykins even though you know I am one) <—my grammar is really good, can you tell?

Mine was spent eating and watching Lie to Me and Glee on Hulu.

Can I just say that Hulu is the best invention ever, I think if I could pick one birthday present it would be to have unlimited access to Hulu and all shows on demand fo FREE because I am a cheapo.

Actually that is a lie, I would want a lifetime supply of raisins and a juicer because I am too cheapo to buy one for myself.

Slash I think I will have to do a whole post on my obsession with Hulu and all of the wonderful things it brings into my life, keep your eye out for that one, I have a feeling it will be a this-will-make-you-pee-your-pants kind of post.

First of all, I have to say that my Grandma is the cutest thing in the world, I love her and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when she sends me cards (especially when she sends me a whole dollar, that makes me jump for joy because I can buy penny candy at Walgreens:)).

It makes my heart smile:)

If you imagine me with my excited face you will understand the emotion that comes with cards from my Grandma, she is the cutest woman alive, I mean look at her!

Just TRY and tell me that is not the most adorable woman you have ever seen, I dare you. She is even more of a munchkin than I am clocking in at about four foot something or other and it makes me feel tall:)

What a cutie patootie!

So, since it was Indulgence Friday, I obviously had to make some yummy deliciousness. This time it came in the form of an old frosty favorite, healthified.

As a kid, did you ever have the McDonald’s chocolate milkshakes? I used to LOVE those things, but they were so sugar-laden and full of fat that my smart parents only let me have one once every few years (yes, years).

As a child, I didn’t exactly appreciate this lack of ice creamy deliciousness, but now my cholesterol can thank them:)

And now, your cholesterol can thank me!

Healthified Chocolate Milkshake

Slightly sweet with a mild banana flavor, this milkshake tastes just like (and better!) than its not-so-healthy counterpart.

Makes one large shake.

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 heaping tablespoon raw cacao (or cocoa/carob powder)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. stevia
  • 2 giant handfuls of ice
  • Cacao nibs, chocolate chips, more cacao powder (for garnish)

  1. Combine milk, banana, cacao, stevia, and vanilla in your blender on its highest power.
  2. Add ice cubes, a few at a time, while the blender is running.
  3. Pour into a (large) glass, and serve immediately.

I garnished mine with more cacao nibs, but chocolate chips, cacao/cocoa/carob powder, or fruit would also be delicious!

And the best part? If you use raw cacao, the entire smoothie is completely raw!

Chocolate craving: satisfied.

I have been getting some questions lately about my raw habits as of late, and I’m not going all dehydrator on you guys (even though I would absolutely love to have one, but then again I am too cheapo to buy one), but I am eating all of my fruits and veggies raw (besides brussels sprouts, which I lightly steam), as well as eating sprouted grains and beans.

However, I am also eating lots of cooked goodness like beans (hummus!) and quinoa and amaranth. And surprisingly, it’s so much easier than eating all cooked food! The prep time is so much smaller, and I feel so rejuvenated every time I eat:)

Also, please do not be offended if I do not respond to comments very quickly! I have addressed this before, but I just feel so bad and I love you all so much! I am getting back to comments and e-mails as quickly as possible, but the student life ain’t easy:) I’m a busy bee, chickadees!

On another note, it made me giggle and smile ear to ear to hear that some of you are catching onto my catch-phrases! (like bloggity blog, lazy-loo, snackety snack, sprouty get the idea) Keep spreadin’ the CK Vocab love, boos!

That’s all for this morning love doves! I’m off to hit the gym and then get some work done. Have an awesome Sattyday! Smile

Does chocolate make you hyper?

Yes, do not get around me after I have had some chocolate unless you are looking for a party.

Are you obsessed with Hulu? What are your favorite shows?

Lie to Me, Glee, Greek, Desperate Housewives, and Grey’s. And OCCASIONALLY The Bachelor if I’m feeling extra indulgent:)

What is your favorite flavor of milkshake?

Chocolate, hands down. Vanilla and strawberry are just gross.

Do your grandparents send you cute cards?

Yes, I keep every single one of them, they make me smile:)

  1. Totally agree; chocolate is the best milkshake/ice cream flavor EVER, hands down. 🙂 I love your recipe for the milkshake, it looks HUGE! I make one basically the same way only with less ice and a little vanilla. Have you ever added vanilla to your shakes? It’s spectactularly delicious:) Have a great Saturday!

  2. I wish I could have read this last night! I was craving some chocolatey goodness but I wasn’t sure what to make. this would have been perfect! I”ll have to try it tonight. cute glass, too! Perfect for a “milk” shake 🙂

  3. Oh gosh! Girl, I totally understand about the comments. We all have a life outside of the blogging world (I like to pretend I venture into the real world sometimes)…Some people live off their blogs which is not okay.

That milkshake looks amazing. I really want to try making it.

  7. Oh yes yes YES! I love my grandparents too with all of my heart. I love receiving cards from them, and everyone else. You know, there is something about receiving a card and not just an email/text. To me, a card is EXTRA special because they took the time to sit done and make it. 🙂 Homemade cards are the bestest!!! 🙂 (hehe, making up words is the funnest!!! ;))

  8. I think that is damn adorable that your grandmother sends you something! Mine used to, but she’s getting up there in age. It’s my turn to start spoiling her!

  9. Naaw your grandma is SOOO sweet! Bless her!! I just wanna give her a hug, but that might freak her out a bit, seeing as she has no idea who I am an all…! 😛

Chocolate actually doesn’t make me hyper (that I’m aware of) but coffee sends me right off the wall. The last time I drank it I felt like I was going to buzz right out of my skin.. if that makes sense and is possible. Haha.

As for milkshakes, chocolate. Always chocolate. I don’t mind the other flavors but nothing can top chocolate.

  22. Awwww! Your grandma is most certainly adorable! 🙂
the healthy chocolate milkshake looks fantastic!!

  23. Awwww how cute is grandma???? I love happy grandparents! My nana always makes her cards for us, and I love them all!

This milkshake is going to be my new fave! How do you find the stevia in it? Sometimes I am “funny” with the taste…

  25. my grandparents send me such cute cards- they sent me a disney princess valentine this year – and ten dollars, who can argue with that?

  26. oo yum!!! I got a cute card from my parents that had super cute decorated cupcakes on it just like the ones I made for Vday! And a 20! Which I used to get a castiron pan. haha Thanks Rents!
