Weird Things I Do in my Sleep + Baked Falafel Balls!

Good morning lovelies! I hope you all had a luuurvely Thursday and are ready to celebrate Indulgence Friday!:)

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am ready for the weekend! Thursdays tend to be my favorite day of the week because I always know that Friday is right around the corner:)

First of all, I wanted to say thank you for your beautiful comments on my post on the Black Swan in All of Us and my FAQT’s post from yesterday that answered a lot of the questions I’ve been getting lately. Check them out!

I also have to thank you for being the best readers I could ever have! The last week has been filled with record-high numbers of hits for CK, and I cannot be more thankful! You all keep me blogging every day, and I love each and every one of you🙂

Secondly, Chef Katelyn has been revamped! If you’re reading from your Google Reader or e-mail, take a second to click over to the bloggity blog and have a look! I spent an embarrassing amount of time on the improvements, so have a look and I will love you forever🙂 (except we’re all best friends anyways, that is why I love my bloggy boos so much!).

HALT! Quick note:

Today a friend of mine and I created the Next Big Thing.

We are calling them….CARROT BALLS🙂

IMG_3478You thought I was joking, didn’t you?

Oh and by the way, the skinny looking one is a baseball bat.

Just so you know.

This came about because I was enjoying my carrots in Lit, and then found a carrot that was shaped just. like. a tiny ball.

I showed my friend and she said that it would be a cool new product.

So what did we do?

We both exclaimed, CARROT BALLS! At the same. time.

Telepathy, I tell you:)

So if you are interested in purchasing Carrot Balls and a Baseball Barrot (ha), please call 1-800-CARROT-BALLS and we will promptly mail some to you.

IMG_3475p.s. That is my gorgeous lunch box, sorry about the awesome lighting, my classes don’t exactly dig the whole “natural light” thing;)

Weird Things I Do in my Sleep

So, I have a little story for you.

Okay, it’s actually a ton of stories all wrapped up in one.

Ever since I was little, I have done strange things in my sleep.

Flinging my legs every which way.

Waking up with my comforter in the hallway (this one stumped me too).

Finding my Droid in between my sheets instead of on my desk (on the other side of the room) where I had left it the night before.

Wearing a different outfit than I went to sleep in (not a joke).

Waking up in the kitchen, eating Cheez-Its (my pre-vegan days).

Waking up to the sound of my own voice.

Oh, by the way. I talk in my sleep. Don’t have a sleepover with me. Or do, and laugh your face off. I say some crazy stuff!

But if there’s one thing I haven’t done in my sleep (but totally could) it’s make these falafel balls.

IMG_3472Quick, simple, and way more delicious-looking than they do in this picture. Sorry, the ones I ate on a plate were gone too quickly for photography:)

Baked Falafel Balls

Inspired by OhSheGlows

Makes about 20-22 Falafel Balls, based on your size preference.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (or 3 cups) garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. tumeric
  • 1/2 cup garbanzo bean flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tbsp. water, more if necessary (a tablespoon at a time)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a cookie sheet with olive oil.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a food processor.
  3. Form into patties with your hands, and place on greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip with a spatula (carefully! they fall apart easily) and bake for another 15 minutes.
  5. Serve in a pita, on a salad, in a wrap, or with ketchup!

No, I was not joking when I said with ketchup. My little sister absolutely loves these, and said that they taste better than chicken nuggets! (which is saying a lot, considering we’re veganWinking smile)

That’s all for now lovlies! See you later tonight for a recap of my Indulgence Friday!

We have a half day today (this never happens), which means I only have three classes…what whaaaat! Looks like I’ll have time to go to the gymmy gym gym!

Then later tonight, I’ll be going out to dinner with the sista and then baking something delecably delicious, so keep your eyes out for some yummy:)

Do you do anything weird in your sleep?

Hahahaha yes.

Do you ever find weirdly-shaped food?

I once found a chip that looked like Abe Lincoln’s head! It. was. epic:)

What do you like to dip in ketchup?

Um, EVERYTHING.

Happy Indulging, loves!

  1. I was thisclose to making falafel yesterday. I’ll take this as a sign that I really should make it this weekend if the mood strikes again 😉 Yours look great!
haha, I don’t think I do anything too crazy in my sleep, luckily! Some nights I’ll be more disruptive in flailing around than others but I think for the most part I sleep like a log 😛
    Have a good half-day today…i’m jealous!

  2. I always move around when I sleep! I never know where I’ll turn up. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a pretzel shaped like a treble clef. Haha! Have a great weekend too!

  3. movesnmunchies

ahahahahh wait but those falafels look amazing.. i dont have garbanzo flour though.. BOO! maybe i should invest in some- ive never really used it before!.. haha i have never been one to do odd things in my sleep.. Im the one who wakes up in the exact same position i went to bed in!

  4. Everything is dipped in ketchup with me too! I don’t do anything too funny in my sleep (that I know of ha). This post was hilarious, if you ever find out how you changed clothes you’ll have to announce it. 🙂

  5. I’ve never heard of carrot balls before but they look cool!

  6. I do a lot of weird things at night. I seem to wake up at like 2 am now freaking out that I slept through my alarm. I set two alarms. So stupid!!!! Glad I’m not the only crazy sleeper.

  7. YUM! I’m obsessed with Greek food…falafel is defiantly a favorite! The weirdest thing I dip in ketchup is probably mac & cheese. It’s seriously good! I think I probably talk in my sleep every night haha. Not even anything understandable. I just ramble nonsense 🙂

  8. haha that is a crazy list of things you do in your sleep! especially changing outfits. that’s hilarious. i love that you baked the falafel – so much healthier. i, too, would have eaten them with ketchup, but i can eat anything with ketchup.

  9. theflourishingfoodie

Carrots balls and bats, that is too funny! I want some! I just came across your blog and can’t wait to read more 🙂

  10. I came across your blog last night while reading a few others. I am really enjoying it. I have been toying with the whole gluten free thing for a while now. I bloat very easily and have the plumbing issue as well. My only problem is that I love bread products but I hate bean flour, any suggestions??

I love ketchup with my scrambled eggs, is that weird? I have been told it is but I never thought of it as weird.

  11. Your blog is so cute, I love it!
And I’ve been known to do some weird things in my sleep, like talking. I usally don’t end up in other rooms though! Although, when I was two years old, apparently I somehow got out of my bed, crawled downstairs, and opened the front door and was ready to head on out. Luckly my dad heard everything and ran down and grabbed my before I escaped! I guess I did it in my sleep, Ha!

  15. I have never had falafel balls in my life! However, I love chickpeas and this is actually a recipe that I understand what all the ingredients are… get in muh belly! I wake up almost every night to go to the bathroom and absolutely CANNOT go back to bed until I have made a cup of tea. I’m seriously struggling with not being about to have hot drinks right now because of the wisdom teeth. :{ one more day! Happy indulgent Friday!

  16. runyogarepeat
